KATIE LIN, AMFT
THERAPIST | AMFT #142072
Hi! I’m Katie.
Throughout my life I have strived to impact positive change within diverse communities by increasing equitable access to mental health resources and support. It has been a lifelong ambition of mine to help individuals develop emotional resilience in the face of adversity and explore their experiences in a safe space.
With a passion for psychology and an innate curiosity towards the human experience, I went on to receive my Bachelor’s in Psychology, with a minor in LGBTQ Studies, from UCLA, and my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. I have received training in Gottman Couples Therapy (Levels 1 and 2), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindful Self-Compassion, Child Therapy Approaches (including sand tray and play therapy), Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace, Multicultural Counseling, Grief, and Mindfulness.
Grounded in compassion and empathy, my work weaves together the body and mind so you can build a greater awareness around the cognitive, emotional, and physical patterns that may no longer serve you. As a Certified Mindfulness Informed Professional, I will support you with bringing equanimity and calm to your emotional experiences, so you may respond from a place that reflects your deepest intentions. I integrate mindfulness, positive psychology, neuroscience, Attachment Theory, Family Systems Theory, and emotion regulation into my practice, all of which help to foster a holistic approach to therapy.
As your therapist, you will find that I continually strive to incorporate and share the latest scientific findings around stress, neuroscience, evolutionary psychology, and the body, so that you will leave each session more equipped to navigate life’s struggles. I specialize in anxiety, grief, women’s issues, LGBTQIA+ issues, child/adolescent/teen issues, relationship issues, and life transitions, but work with clients of diverse backgrounds and ages. It is my hope that I can support you on your unique path, so that you can begin to experience freedom from the thoughts and emotions that encumber you.
“You are imperfect, you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging.”
