MELISSA JOHNSON, ASW
THERAPIST | ASW #95980
Hi, I’m Melissa.
If you’re reading this now, life may be a little hard. Maybe even a lot hard. Whatever you have on your mind, I’m here to listen empathically and support you in building up the confidence and skills (and self-compassion!) it takes to get through it.
I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from California State University, Northridge. As an associate clinical social worker, my approach goes beyond the individual to explore how interactions within the family system and society at large impact a client’s mental health.
My previous experience includes working with adults and teenagers struggling with addiction to substances, depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm and family conflict. I have worked in both outpatient settings and residential settings, and I have experience helping clients through crisis and life transitions.
I use an eclectic approach which includes techniques from Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, existential psychotherapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy.
My treatment plans are tailored to each individual client, and I encourage ongoing collaboration with my clients to adjust the goals and approaches of treatment as we work together.
If you feel we would be a good fit, I look forward to working with you!
