Hi I'm Aneeka,
Throughout my journey, I’ve recognized the importance of undergoing therapy myself. Engaging in therapy has not only helped me process my own experiences but has also enhanced my ability to empathize with my clients effectively. It has taught me valuable lessons about vulnerability, authenticity, and self-compassion qualities that are essential for any therapist. Through my career, I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults facing different issues from depression to anxiety, ADHD, abuse, trauma, cultural assimilation, transition between life events, parent-child relationship, and family conflicts.
I prioritize creating a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings. I employ various techniques such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and most importantly a Dynamic Approach that considers the intersectionality of identities—such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and socioeconomic status—that may affect a client’s experience. I believe that therapy should not be one-size-fits-all; instead, it should be tailored to reflect the complexities of each person’s life. This adaptability allows me to provide interventions that resonate deeply with my clients’ lived experiences.
As someone who has lived in multiple countries and embraced various cultures and traditions I believe my experience enriches my practice by allowing me to connect deeply with clients through shared experiences while addressing complex issues related to race and identity in therapy. My goal is not only to provide support but also to empower clients as they navigate their unique journeys toward healing.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy being a mom, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
