KYLEE YOSHIKAWA, AMFT
THERAPIST | AMFT #127838
Hello, My Name is Kylee.
“People may forget what you say, people may forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” -Maya Angelou
Iʼm so happy youʼre here! Therapy can often seem like a journey of uncertainty and can even be a little scary. I want you to know that no matter where we go, I will be there by your side to sit with you through your story. As your therapist, I believe you are the expert of your life and I am deeply honored to be able to navigate your life experiences in a safe, empathetic and non-judgmental environment with you. There can be a lot of different emotions that may arise through experiences such as life transitions, anxiety or grief and it may seem overwhelming. I am here to meet you wherever you are at, to help you strive towards your goals at your own pace while practicing helpful coping skills that will continue to support you outside of the therapeutic setting.
I am Japanese and was born and raised on the island of Oʼahu, Hawaiʼi, until I moved up to Orange County for college at Concordia University Irvine where I majored in Psychology and graduate school where I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from San Diego State University.
Before joining the Abundance team, I worked in San Diego at a family therapy agency where I had the opportunity to work with clients and their families through several themes, some of which were: anxiety, depression, family conflict, stress, trauma and grief. I love working from a strength-based approach, meaning I will explore your strengths, interests and aspirations to support you in reaching your therapeutic goals in a way that is meaningful to you. You and I are a team! I also enjoy utilizing play therapy, art therapy, self-care/mindfulness practices, cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy to help you gain insight on how your past experiences may impact you today.
In my free time, I love reading and writing, drinking coffee, playing with my cat, watching anime and trying new places to eat.
In all of lifeʼs endeavors and adventures, ups and downs and stressors, I will strive to be a lighthouse in your storm. Congratulations on taking this step and I look forward to working with you!
