RACHEL RANKIN, AMFT
THERAPIST | AMFT #137323
Hi, I'm Rachel!
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read about me. I look forward to learning about you and hope that I can help you realize your full potential on your journey of self-discovery. I received my Master's in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University with a specialization in Trauma Studies.
My passion in life is helping people overcome trauma through resiliency and empowerment. Inspired by The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, I changed my career trajectory from physical therapy to psychotherapy, aiming to specialize in Trauma Focused interventions for Eating Disorders and Complex PTSD.
Trauma can manifest physiologically, as well as psychologically in ways that hide behind the surface without the individual realizing it throughout the lifespan. With empathic attunement and compassion, it is possible to rediscover the true authentic self again, leaving behind any shame, guilt, anxiety, or depression, while learning to make new meaning from the past.
Before joining Abundance, I worked in residential dual diagnosis treatment and love helping people on their journey into sobriety. In addition to Eating Disorders, Addiction, and Complex PTSD, I have extensive experience with co-dependency, personality disorders, panic disorders, mood disorders, grief, depression, and anxiety.
I love working with all individuals, couples, and teens, and have a special place in my heart for working with the LGBTQ+ population.
My favorite modalities are DBT and Narrative Therapy, although I love Imago, Gottman, EFT, and TFCBT. I am currently seeking training in EMDR and Brainspotting.
