Hi I am Abhirami,
I know therapy can be nerve-wracking when you're first getting started. As a therapist, I want to help foster a safe, collaborative environment for my clients as they navigate their healing journeys. Together, we can create a treatment plan to work towards your therapy goals with intention. I take a psychodynamic, trauma-informed lens to therapeutic work. I want my clients to know that the patterns in their life that may be distressing to them are not a reflection of their inadequacies, but behaviors and thoughts that make sense in the context of their life experiences. With more compassion and clarity, as well as support in learning new coping tools and strategies, I believe making shifts in these patterns is possible.
My work is also always rooted in the context of the socioeconomic systems my clients are navigating. Things like race, gender, sexuality and ability should not be taboo in therapy. Your identity and culture are a crucial part of your experiences, and we will give words to how they may be shaping what is bringing you to therapy. I am an Associate Social Worker, with a Bachelor in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California. I have provided services for adults of all ages, around issues like anxiety, depression, trauma, gender dysphoria, life transitions, chronic illness and grief.
Outside of my clinical work, my interests are in community organizing, making art, quality time with community and spending time in nature. It is an honor to hear your story- I look forward to connecting with you!
